Terms of use
Draft, last changed 6 November 2026
What Civics is
Civics lets you make a website from a design, change it by chatting or by clicking, and publish it at an address on civics.ng or on a domain you own. By creating an account or publishing a site, you agree to these terms.
Your account
You need to be at least 18, or have a parent or guardian’s permission. Keep your password to yourself, because you’re responsible for what happens under your account.
What belongs to you
Your words, photos and business details stay yours. You give us permission to store and show them so that your site works, and only for that. The designs, code and sample photos belong to Civics. You can use them as part of your site on Civics, but you can’t copy them to resell as designs.
What you can’t do
You can’t use Civics to:
- Scam people, take money for things you won’t deliver, or collect passwords or bank details under false pretences.
- Pretend to be a bank, a government office, a company or a person you aren’t.
- Sell anything that’s illegal in Nigeria, or where your customers are.
- Publish sexual content involving minors, hate speech, threats, or calls to violence.
- Use someone else’s photos, words or trademarks without permission.
- Attack Civics or try to get around its limits.
Taking sites down
Anyone can report a site. If a site breaks these rules, we can take it down and block its address, usually without warning when people could be harmed. If you think we got it wrong, contact us through the report page and we’ll look again.
The AI chat
The chat can make mistakes, and it may get facts wrong when rewriting your words. Check your site before you publish it, because you’re responsible for what it says, including your prices and your promises to customers.
Selling through your site
If you sell through your site, the sale is between you and your customer. You’re responsible for delivering what you sell, for refunds, and for following consumer protection and tax rules. Civics isn’t a party to the sale.
Your customers’ details
Orders and messages from your site are stored for you in your account. Use those details only to deal with what your customer asked for. You’re responsible for handling them lawfully, including under the Nigeria Data Protection Act.
Fees
Some parts of Civics may cost money. We’ll tell you the price before you’re charged, and we’ll give you notice before any price changes.
Availability and liability
We work hard to keep Civics running, but we can’t promise it will never go down or that nothing will ever be lost, so keep your own copies of anything important. As far as the law allows, we aren’t liable for lost profits or indirect losses, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the last twelve months.
Leaving
You can take your site down and stop using Civics at any time. We may close accounts that break these terms.
Changes and law
We may update these terms, and we’ll tell you about important changes before they apply. These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Reaching us
Use the report page to reach us about a site, a complaint, or these terms.
